Roundtable talks TEC
Leaders met at the Taylorville Community Hospital Auditorium today to discuss local job creation and the Taylorville Energy Center. U.S. Senator Dick Durbin and Illinois State Senator Deanna Demuzio spoke with local government and business officials, Tenaska representatives, and representatives from the American Lung Association, Sierra Club, and AFL-CIO. Clean coal technology will come at a cost
Efforts to tap Illinois' vast reserve of coal using clean technology will come at a cost to consumers, an Illinois Commerce Commission report released yesterday to the Illinois General Assembly confirmed regarding Tenaska's proposed Taylorville Energy Center.

Senators Demuzio and Durbin hold roundtable in Taylorville
Illinois State Senator Deanna Demuzio invited U.S. Senator Dick Durbin to Taylorville to discuss the Taylorville Energy Center and local job creation. Senator Durbin received a briefing on the TEC project and the group divulged into conversation about the plant's future.

Christian County Hazard Mitigation Team finalizes plan.
Disaster can happen at any given time. It cannot always be prevented, but a community can always be prepared. The Christian County Hazard Mitigation Planning Team met on Wednesday, September 1, to finalize the county wide preparation and relief program.

Lady Ponies sweep away Tri-City in two games
South Fork's volleyball team opened their season on Wednesday evening with a two games to zero victory over visiting Tri-City. The Lady Ponies were able to win the first game of the match 25-22 and they took the second game 25-20.

THS cross country teams earn victories at MacArthur
The Taylorville boys' and girls' cross country teams opened their seasons on a wet road course Wednesday. The teams traveled to Decatur to take on Decatur MacArthur and the International School of Indiana (ISI), based in Indianapolis, for a tri-meet.

THS soccer faces early season slump
The Tornadoes soccer team continued competing in the Four Corners Classic on Wednesday evening. THS lost its third game in as many days by the count of 3-0 to host Riverton. The Tornadoes found themselves down 2-0 at the half and Riverton was able to add another goal in the second half.
