| ACT: Illinois testing more than 90% of students |
The number of high school students taking the ACT has reached a record high in Illinois, and the average ACT score shows room for improvement. At the same time indications point to small achievements in statewide efforts to increase student learning, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announces the graduating class of 2010's composite ACT score is the highest of the eight states that test 90 percent or more of their students. The 2010 average Illinois ACT score of 20.7 compares to the 2010 national average ACT score of 20.9. Illinois' composite score of 20.7 reflects an upward trend over the past five years and an urgent need to increase student learning across the board. Tuesday, September 07, 2010 |
