| Kiwanis members hear from Historical Society president |
Jodi Heberling, president of the Christian County Historical Society, was the guest speaker at the weekly meeting of the Taylorville Kiwanis Club at the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Auditorium. Heberling shared with Kiwanis members the ongoing efforts of the Historical Society, in preserving the county's rich history, through the many buildings at its location located at Routes 29 and 48 on the east side of Taylorville. Georgia Faye's husband has written a book, entitled Georgia Faye, about her life after she passed away in 1949. The book portrays seven decades and begins with her life as a child, growing up in Morrisonville. | "Great Adventures" - 2010 Pana Labor Day Parade |
The Pana "Great Adventures" Labor Day Parade kicked off this morning at 10 o'clock with hundreds of entries and thousands of spectators. The Pana Lions was awarded first place for their float "Pana Belle" in the annual Pana Labor Day Parade. Pictured are Bill Bruenderman (left) and Mike Anderson (right), who represent the Pana Lions Club. Bruenderman and Anderson stated the club has entered the annual parade since the 1950s and have had a good record of winning in the past. Taking away 2nd place was Siegert-Lee Insurance with their float "Peter Pan," while Heritage Manor received 3rd place for their float "100 years of Great Adventures on Schuyler Bridge." | Turn Out Movement Arts Studio, where dance meets art

TAYLORVILLE - So you think you can dance, put your skills to the test at the new dance studio opening this month in Taylorville. Hip hop, break dancing, ballet, tap, and jazz classes begin September 13, at the Turn Out Movement Arts Studio located at 107-108 West Main Cross. Under the direction of dance instructor/proprietor, Tracey Sims, and four of her teachers, classes will be offered Monday and Tuesdays at the studio on the north side of the Taylorville square. TAYLORVILLE - Billy Bob Howard is on his second lap around the world.
At the equator the earth's circumference is 24,900 miles, and Howard, a Taylorville resident, has walked enough miles to have walked completely around the globe. While he has not literally circumnavigated the world at the equator, he has logged over 24,900 miles by running and walking.
