Lady Tornadoes finish third at Mattoon Tourney
 |  | | | MATTOON — The Lady Tornadoes finished third at the Mattoon Tournament on Saturday by winning three of their five matches on the day. The ladies defeated Sullivan, Martinsville and St. Elmo in route to the third place trophy. The over 2,000 in attendance were treated to early scoring, on the ground and through the air, as their Tornadoes took control of the game quickly and outmatched the Spartans on a chilly night fit for football. This time, they faced Virden North Mac and the result wasn't favorable. Morrisonville (1-1) was defeated in two games, 25-21 and 25-18. Their opponent, the Central A&M Lady Raiders, was just opening their season. Pana was able to overcome the hot gym conditions and capture their fifth win of the season by defeating the home team two games to zero. Friday, September 03, 2010 |  | | Lady Tornadoes beat Southeast for rain shortened victory | The Lady Tornadoes tennis team was able to record another win Thursday before play was called off for rain. According to THS head coach Wayne Orr, the girls were able to get enough wins to pick up a victory over visiting Southeast, 6 matches to 1, before rain caused the match to be cut short. The teams traveled to Clinton where they took on Monticello, Tuscola and the host school in a quad meet. THS lost its third game in as many days by the count of 3-0 to host Riverton. The Tornadoes found themselves down 2-0 at the half and Riverton was able to add another goal in the second half.
