A Masterful Garden Touch at the home of Ray & Candy Gates, 808 Samuel
Candy’s green thumb is evident in her garden, beginning with the relatively new berm in front throughout whimsical touches such as the fairy garden tucked along the fence in her back garden. Her husband Ray says their garden “reflects the ‘battle’ between the neat freak husband and the wife who prefers the natural look.” Candy agrees, but she also knows that deep down he likes the result.

Breeze-Courier guest writer

TAYLORVILLE — I write today to pay tribute to my mother, the indomitable Katie Fraley, who is poised to complete a career in education that spans more than five decades: 41 years as an elementary school teacher, followed by 12 years as an elected school board member, and nearly all of this time spent in, and for, Taylorville.
