November 2 Gospel Sing Edinburg Baptist Church, 416 North Ricks, will host a Gospel Sing on Friday, November 2, 2012. Everyone is invited to attend. Food will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m., with the Gospel Sing starting at 7:00 p.m. No love offering will be taken. November 2-4 ANSAR Shrine Circus The ANSAR Shrine Royal Hanneford Circus will return to the Prairie Capitol Convention Center November 2. You’ll see aerial acts, tigers, elephants, and the Shrine clowns will join in the fun, too. The Friday night show will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at the Prairie Capitol Convention Center box office and other area businesses. General admission tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children. Reserved seats are available for a small additional charge.
November 3 Spaghetti Dinner at Edinburg Baptist Church The public is invited to the Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, November 3rd from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Edinburg Baptist Church, 416 North Ricks, Edinburg. The tickets are $6 each and $20 for a family of 4. Tickets are available at the door for the same price. Meal includes spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, dessert and drink. Carryout is also available. Chicken & Dressing/Ham Supper at Zion Chapel Zion Chapel, UMC (1/4 mile west of the Boody water tower) will hold their traditional chicken and dressing or ham supper on Sat., Nov. 3rd from 4 - 7 p.m. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Adults are $9 and children 12 and under are $4. Carry-outs will be available and there will be a Country Store and silent auction.
November 4 St. Maurice Catholic Church annual Baked Turkey Dinner St. Maurice Catholic Church will hold its annual Baked Turkey Dinner Sunday November 4, 2012 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Morrisonville from 3 - 6:30 p.m. Menu will include: baked turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, cranberry salad, cake homemade ice cream, coffee, tea and water. Adults are $8.50, children are $5.50 and carry outs will be available for 50 cents extra. The public is invited to attend.
November 5 MCHS Meeting - Trains The Macoupin County Historical Society’s November meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, in the meeting room of the Ruyle building across from the MCHS Museum located at 920 Breckenridge St., Carlinville. The meeting will feature a presentation from Bill McClain on the predominately Irish immigrants who worked as laborers during the building of railroads throughout Macoupin County. November 11 Springfield Comic Book Convention The Springfield Comic Book Convention will be held Sunday, November 11 at the Route 66 Hotel & Conference Center, 625 E. Saint Joseph St. - near the intersection of 6th St. and Stevenson Dr. The convention is open to public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. Dealers will have a huge variety of comic books new and old, as well as toys and related collectibles for sale. If you happen to have old comic books sitting around that you no longer want there will be dealers there that are interetsed in buying them.
