April 12 Southern BaptistOpen Mic Gospel Sing Taylorville Southern Baptist Church will host an Open Mic Gospel Sing on Friday, April 12th. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the sing begins at 7:00 pm.
April 12-14 Mud Fest presented by South Fork Dirt Riders South Fork Dirt Riders, 794 Route 104 in Taylorville, will host Mud Fest Friday, April 12th through Sunday, April 14th. Gate entry fees: $30 Fri-Sun (3 days), $20 per day and children 6 and under are free. Camping is available, call to reserve electric site, $5.00 per vehicle per night. Friday night events include: Truck Tug-A-War starting at 7:30 p.m.; A Touch of Class DJ & Karaoke. April 13 TAAC Watercolor Landscape Painting Workshop Taylorville Area Arts Council will hold a Watercolor Landscape Painting Workshop, presented by Sharon Zimmerman, April 13, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Davis Memorial Christian Church. Zimmerman is an award winning artist who maintains a studio in Argenta, Illinios, and has been painting for more than 25 years. The workshop is limited to only 12 participants and the fee is $20.00 for TAAC members and $25.00 for non-members. Each participant will be required to provide supplies for the workshop. APRIL 14 Wanda Mountain Boysperform in Pana The Wanda Mountain Boys will be presenting Southern Gospel music as it’s best at the United in Faith Church located at 609 Fairgrounds Road, Pana on Sunday, April 14th. The performance will begin at 5:00 p.m. and a potluck dinner will follow the concert. The Wanda Mountain Boys travel many miles singing and they desire to both uplift Christians by sharing a positive message and a laugh or two as well as take the Gospel message to those who need to come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. All are invited to attend their performance in Pana.
April 17 TAAC’s 2nd Annual Jazz for the Arts Concert The Josh Beyers Quartet will be featured at the Taylorville Area Art Council’s 2nd annual Jazz for the Arts Concert Wed., April 17, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Shumway Room at One East Market. This year’s concert will feature the Josh Beyers Quartet out of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. This Jazz for the Arts Concert is provided by the Arts Council to help meet its mission to foster community appreciation for and involvement in the arts and humanities by providing a wide range of programming, services, and cultural education for people of all ages. All jazz enthusiast and supporters of the arts are encouraged to attend. Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door and may be purchased at Rebecca’s Antiques or Little Luxuries. April 19 Calico Twirlers Dance The Calico Twirlers Square Dance Club will host their monthly dance on Friday, April 19 at the Litchfield Community Center, 1100 S. State St., Litchfield, IL, from 7:30-10:00 p.m. Curt Braffet will be the caller and the public is invited.
THS Band BoostersTrivia Night Taylorville High School Band Boosters is hosting Trivia Night on Fri., April 19th in the Taylorville High School Cafeteria, 815 Springfield Road. Registration is at 6:30 p.m. and the trivia game is from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Cost is $10 per person, with 6-8 players per team. Silent auction, 50/50 raffle and concessions will be available. Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. A costume contest with prizes awarded for “Best Team Theme”, “Best Female Costume” and “Best Male Costume”.
