SPRINGFIELD — Maria Horváth and Pei-I Wang will present a piano duet recital entitled “88 Keys for 2” featuring works by Mozart, Brahms, Ravel and Debussy Sunday, April 28 at Lincoln Land Community College.
The 4 p.m. concert, part of the LLCC Recital Series, will be held in the Trutter Center on the Springfield campus and is free and open to the public.
Hungarian-born pianist Mária Horváth, D.M.A. has appeared as a soloist; chamber musician; instrumental, vocal and choral accompanist; and performed in orchestras, opera and musical theater productions in France, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia and the U.S. Currently, she is the principal keyboardist (piano, celesta, harpsichord, portative organ and synthesizer) of the Illinois Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. Dr. Horváth teaches piano at The Art of Piano studio (www.theartofpiano.com) and is also on the music faculty of LLCC.
Pei-I Wang, native of Taiwan, received her D.M.A. in piano performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied under pianist and conductor, Dr. Ian Hobson. Before she came to the U.S., Dr. Wang studied piano with legendary pianists Dr. Daming Zhu and Dr. Rolf-Peter Wille. She was one of the top prize winners of the 2011 Liszt-Garrison International Piano Competition. Dr. Wang is on the faculty of Blackburn College.
The final recital of the series, “Music of the Lincoln Era”, will be performed May 12th by The Lincoln Troubadours.
