DECATUR, Ill. — Stop by Homestead Prairie Farm on Sunday, June 2nd, at 2:00 p.m. for an introduction to herbs grown in America in the 1800s. Homestead Prairie Farm, a circa 1860 living history house museum, is located on the grounds of the Rock Springs Conservation Area in Decatur. Admission is free and all ages are invited to attend.
Guest speaker Betty Moser, a long-time gardener and retired Millikin University chemistry professor, will introduce various herbs during this program. Come learn about culinary, aromatic, and medicinal herbs including their historic uses. Also, the tradition of making herbal nosegay bouquets will be discussed.
Rock Springs Conservation Area is located on the southwestern edge of Decatur. To get to Rock Springs go south on Route 48 and turn west onto Rock Springs Road or go south on Wyckles Road and turn east onto Rock Springs Road.
