AUGUST 1 Morrisonville Picnic & Homecoming The 86th annual Morrisonville Picnic and Homecoming will continue Aug. 1st - 2nd. Thursday evening events include: 6-7:30 p.m. - “Battle Creek Band”; 6-10 p.m. - Angry Kitty Wine & Ale House vending; 6:30-10:30 p.m. - Community Club Bingo; 7:15 p.m. - 4-H Group talks about their projects; 8 p.m. - Farm Bingo played in Community Club Tent; 8:30 p.m. - Kids Bicycle Giveaway; 9 p.m. - Crowning Ceremonies for Miss Community Queen; 9 p.m.-12 a.m. - “Audio Dementions” by Ben Grant, DJ (beer tent). Mt. Auburn Farmers’ Picnic The 2013 Mt. Auburn Farmers’ Picnic will be held today, Thurs., August 1st through Sat., August 3rd. The schedule of events for Thursday is as follows: 4 p.m. - Church of Christ concessions open; 5 p.m. - Carnival and Beer Tent open; 5-7 p.m. - Ham and Bean Supper; 6:30 p.m. - Opening Ceremony; 7 p.m. - Little Miss & Mister Contest; 8 p.m. - Bicycle Drawing; 8 p.m. - Pedal Pull; 9 p.m. - Raffle Drawing for $25.
AUGUST 2 Edinburg Baptist Church Gospel Sing August 2nd, Edinburg Baptist Church, located at 416 North Ricks Street, will host its Friday night open mic gospel sing and dinner. Food will be served at 5:30 p.m. and the singing will start at 7:00 p.m. There is no cost for this sing and no offering will be taken. Morrison’s Water Hole; 1-4 p.m. - Tractor Show; 2:30-6 p.m. - Car Show; 3 p.m. - Children’s Games (stage area); 5 p.m. - 3rd Annual Adult Pedal Tractor Pull; 6 p.m. - Kiddie Parade Line Up (no motorized vehicles); 6-7:30 p.m. - "The Chosen Ones"; 6-10 p.m. - Angry Kitty Wine & Ale House vending; 6:30-10:30 p.m. - Community Club Bingo; 6:30 p.m. - Kiddie Parade (winner announced after Parade); 7:30 p.m. - Trophies given to Car Show winners; 8 p.m. - Farm Bingo played in Community Club Tent; 8:30 p.m. - Merchant’s Prizes awarded; 8:30 p.m. - Kids Bicycle Giveaway; 8:45 p.m. - Junior Miss Community Queen Pageant; 9 p.m.-12 a.m. - “Velveeta Revolver" (beer tent).

AUGUST 6 “The History of Dairy Queen” The Macoupin County Historical Society announces that Ralph Scheldt will present “The History of Dairy Queen” on Tuesday, August 6, at 7 p.m. in the Ruyle Building across from the MCHS Museum located at 920 Breckenridge St., Carlinville. Each meeting and festival is free and open to the public.
