“Summer Wine Down” Fundraiser
The Taylorville Memorial Hospital Foundation will its “Summer Wine Down” fundraiser on Sat., August 24, 2013, from 6 to 9 p.m., in the TMH Auditorium in Taylorville. The event will feature live jazz provided by the popular Frank Trombeter Quintet, gourmet treats from Muldaner’s Restaurant and wine tasting provided by Kriegers Restaurant. Tickets are still available for the “Summer Wine Down” and can be purchased for $50.00 a person with first come seating or $500 for a reserved table for eight. 15th Annual Prairieland Chautauqua
From Friday, Aug. 30, to Monday, Sept. 2, the 15th annual Prairieland Chautauqua of Jacksonville offers afternoon and evening performances under the big tent in Community Park on Morton Ave. Under the theme “E pluribus unam,” the Morgan County Historical Society arranded for eight portrayals of famous Americans, eight performances of American music and a catered supper to its audience of over 2,000 persons. Schedule is as follows: Aug. 30 - 4 p.m. Ben BedFord, guitar; 5 p.m. - Brian “Fox” Ellis: “Prince Maximillian Touring the Wilderness of North America, 1832-1834”; 7 p.m. Dennis Stroughmatt: “L’Esprit Creole”; 8 p.m. George Dauler: “Andrew Carnegie”. Aug. 31 - 4 p.m. Chris Vallilo: “Stephen Foster”; 5 p.m. Hank Fincken: “Thomas Edison”; 7 p.m. Brian “Fox” Ellis: “Illinois Governor Ninan Edwards and Potawatomi Chief Gomo”; 8 p.m. George Dauler: “Ulysses Grant”. Sept. 1 - 4 p.m. Rob Killam and band: “America’s Music: The Evolution of Blues into Jazz”; 5 p.m. Joe Bean: “Adlai Stevenson,” a multi-media presentation; 7 p.m. Sherri Mitchell, soprano: “Celebrating America”; 8 p.m. Hank Fincken: “Henry Ford”. Sept. 2 - 4 p.m. “Ken Bradbury’s Genuine Imported American Music Show”; 5 p.m. Pam Brown: “Mary Todd Lincoln”; 7 p.m. The MacMurray College choir, Laurie Lewis directing; 8 p.m. Fritz Klein: “Abraham Lincoln”.
