DECATUR — Celebrate the beginning of autumn at Children’s Museum of Illinois during their annual Pumpkin Palooza with The Great Pumpkin Patch of Arthur, Illinois on Saturday, Sept.28th. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., The Great Pumpkin Patch will host their agricultural workshop “Dirt to Dessert,” which teaches children all about growing pumpkins, from the rich Illinois soil, to the beautiful and nutritious fruits, to the cream-cheese frosted pumpkin cookies. Armed with their passports, children will travel through the Museum as they complete their workshop tour.
"I am super excited to be teaming up with Children's Museum of Illinois on this educational project. We love bringing a small part of our farm to an event where we can introduce people to the wonderfully diverse world of pumpkins, squash, and gourds,” says Mac Condill, Production Manager and 5th generation farmer.
Children’s Museum of Illinois will host their pumpkin toss competition through the day. And, don’t forget to bring outgrown clothes to create your own scarecrow! The Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with agricultural workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $6 for the general public and $1 for Museum members.
