Sept. 19-22, Corvette Funfest in Effingham The world's largest Corvette party is a four-day event, Sept. 19-22, at Mid America Motorworks, 17082 N US Highway 45 in Effingham, filled with a Fun Run Road Tour, Corvette Welcome Fest Downtown Party, expert seminars, a charity event, celebrity choice judging, Fun Dome, Install Dome, live Saturday night entertainment and more! Following a tradition of headlining entertainment, Mid America Motorworks welcomes Bachman & Turner to perform on Saturday night, September 21st. Randy Bachman and Fred Turner, two giants of rock and roll, will have Funfest guests singing along to such hits as "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet", "Taking Care of Business" and "Hey You" in Mid America's 14,000 seat Funfest Amphitheater! Celebrate Funfest's 20th birthday, the kick-off to Mid America Motorworks' 40th anniversary and 60 years of America's sports car!

Sept. 20th: 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. C of A Garage Sale; 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Fish Fry; 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Sparky the Fire Dog; 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. “Rock of Ages” performs under the tent. Sept. 21st: 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. CD of A Garage Sale; 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. Food Booth; 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Face Painting; 4 p.m. Dodgeball Tournament; 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. “SuperMario Speedwagon” performs under the tent. Sept. 22nd: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. CD of A Garage Sale; 10:30 a.m. Polka Mass; 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Family Style Chicken Dinner; 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. “Tamburitzans” Polka band performs on the grounds; 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Crimestoppers; 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Face Painting; 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. “Music Men” performs under the tent; 6 p.m. Raffle Drawing.
Sept. 20, Calico Twirlers Square Dance Club Dance The Calico Twirlers Square Dance Club will host their monthly dance on Friday, September 20, 2013, from 7:30-10:00 p.m. at the Litchfield Community Center, 1100 S. State Street, Litchfield, IL. Dale McRoberts will be the caller and the public is invited.
Sept. 21, 7th Annual Dog Daze Taylorville Main Street’s seventh annual Dog Daze at the Farmers Market will be held Saturday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on the south side of the square. Schedule is as follows: 9 a.m. - Lori Bettis of Bettis Photography will take photos of pets in exchange for donations to the Christian County Animal Shelter; 9:30 a.m. - Diane Brown of Dogwood Pet Lodge will host an obstacle course demonstration and then allow visitors to try it out with their own dogs; 10 a.m. - Meridian Dog Walking Club will do a demonstration; 10:30 a.m. - Pooch Parade will begin. Watch dogs “Strut their Mutt” and learn about their breed; 11 a.m. - Dog show will begin. Prizes will be awarded in each category; 11:30 a.m. - Dachshund Dash will begin. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places arriving across finish lines; 12 p.m. - Eric Helton will be doing a police dog demonstration; 12:30 p.m. - Bark for Life, American Cancer Society will be leading a “2k for K9” walk for cancer.
Sept. 21 & 22, MCHS Fall Festival The Macoupin County Historical Society’s Fall Festival is Sat., Sept. 21, & Sun., Sept. 22, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the MCHS Museum, 920 Breckenridge St., Carlinville. Parking and entrance into the event are free. Approximately 150 vendors and this year’s event will host booths with items for sale including woodcrafts, wind chimes, purses, jewelry and other handmade goods. Several demonstrations including blacksmithing, wheat threshing, rug weaving and saw milling will take place. Live music will be played both afternoons of the event and there will be a tractor parade of many of the old tractors, which will be held each afternoon. Visit MCHS on Facebook for more info.
