SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The International Route 66 Mother Road Festival returns to celebrate its 12th annual event on September 27, 28 & 29, 2013 in historic downtown Springfield along Route 66. Fest hours are Friday 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., and admission is free to all spectators!
Over 1,000 cool cars and 80,000 spectators will roll into the heart of Springfield's historic downtown for a weekend of family fun and non-stop live music from the 50's, 60's & 70's! Come celebrate the golden age of Route 66, the cars, the music and the food, all brought together along Illinois' Route 66.
Participants who were not able to register in advance may register on site until 7:00 p.m. today, September 26th at 630 South 6th St. (at the Ansar Shrine Temple). All years, makes and models are accepted.
The Route 66 City Nights Cruise will kick off the weekend at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 27th. The parade of cars will depart the Capital City Shopping Center at 3095 S. Dirksen Parkway and make its way to the Festival site in downtown Springfield between Washington and Capitol and 4th and 7th Streets.
Kids can enjoy the “Family Fun Zone” with a bounce house, bag toss and other games that will be available all three days. More information and a full schedule of events are available at www.Route66Fest.com.
