October 28

Overeaters Anonymous
Overeaters Anonymous meets every Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Taylorville. For more information call Linda at 237-5294 or 827-6591.

I-Worship Center’s Men’s Weekly Group Meeting
 A men’s weekly small group meeting will be held the 3rd and 4th Sunday of the month at 2:00 p.m. at the Taylorville I-Worship Center, 13378 N. Lawrence Avenue. For more information, call Ray at 825-3353.

October 29

Card Play Group
Every Monday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. the Taylorville Senior Center holds its regular "Card Play Group" for Bridge and Pinochle or bring your own card/game group. The public is welcome.

Beginning Bridge classes
The Taylorville Senior Center offers free beginning bridge classes every Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Personal instruction and tips to become proficient bridge players. Call 824-4263 to RSVP; class size is limited.

Weight Watchers
A Weight Watchers meeting at the Way of Life Church will be held each Monday at 6:00 p.m. Weigh-in will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Tae Kwon Do Classes
The Taylorville Park District offers Tae Kwon Do class on Monday and Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Manners Park dining hall. The class is for children through adults. There is a monthly fee and a yearly registration fee. Mr. Dave Woods is the chief instructor and there are also ten black belt instructors to help with the class. For more information call Dave Woods at 820-1458.

Weight Watchers
There will be a Weight Watchers meeting at the Way of Life Church each Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. Weigh-in will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Pinochle Game
Pinochle games are played every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the South Fork Senior Center. Everyone is welcome to join the game.

TOPS
TOPS Weight Loss Group meets each Tuesday evening in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 303 E. Market. Weigh-in is from 4:30-5:00 p.m. Meeting is from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Come share recipes, information and fun! Please call 824-2951 for more information.

Al-Anon
A weekly Al-Anon meeting will be held every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium C Conference Room at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. For more information call 565-9535.

November 1

St. Maurice Catholic Church annual Baked Turkey Dinner
St. Maurice Catholic Church will hold its annual Baked Turkey Dinner Sunday November 4, 2012 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Morrisonville from 3 - 6:30 p.m. Menu will include: baked turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, cranberry salad, cake homemade ice cream, coffee, tea and water. Adults are $8.50, children are $5.50 and carry outs will be available for 50 cents extra. The public is invited to attend.

24th annual YMCA Auction
The 24th annual YMCA Auction will be Friday, November 9, 2012 at the Stonington American Legion at 5:30 p.m.

November 11

Veteran’s Benefits Briefing
There will be a Veteran’s Benefits Briefing on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 from 3 - 5 p.m. at American Legion Edwin Corpin Post 905, 800 Railroad Ave., Kincaid. During the briefing veterans can learn about federal, state and local veteran benefits, services and programs, and refreshments will be provided. Presenters will include, a Veteran Service Officer from the Ill. Department of Veterans Affairs, a Veteran Employment Specialist from the Ill. Department of Employment Security and other veteran service providers. Contact Post 905 at (217) 237-2535 with any questions.

November 18

Community Thanksgiving Service
Taylorville Christian Church will be hosting the Community Thanksgiving Service event on Sunday, November 18, 6:00 p.m. with guest speaker, Monte Bowers, Illinois National Guard Chaplain. The Community Choir will perform under the direction of Angie Chase.

November 24

Raymond Christmas Mall
The Christmas Mall at the KC Hall in Raymond will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, please contact MaDonna Wempen at 217-229-3584 or wempenm@hotmail.com. A few tables remain for vendors and vendors registered before October 25th will be listed in the advertisements and flyers.

Village of Raymond Open Houses
The Village of Raymond will host their annual open houses on Saturday, November 24th in which the public can stop by, enjoy refreshments, register for door prizes and discover the products and services offered by many Raymond businesses around town. Any business wanting to participate in the city wide open houses should contact MaDonna Wempen at 217-229-3584 or wempenm@hotmail.com by October 25th to be listed in the publicity.

Annual Capitol Chamber Singers Christmas Candle Light Concert
The Taylorville Area Arts Council will present the 10th Annual Capitol Chamber Singers Christmas Candle Light Concert at the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville on Thursday, Nov. 29 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.

December 8

TAAC 2nd Annual Gala “Moonstruck”
The Taylorville Area Arts Council 2nd Annual Gala “Moonstruck” will be held the evening of Saturday, Dec. 8th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Christian County Court House. Ticket are $30 and may be purchased at Rebecca’s Antiques or Little Luxuries. Local artist’s work will be displayed and auctioned, music will be provided by the Sangamon Brass Quintet and Judge Ron Spears and Bill Kennedy will present short talks on Lincoln and the architecture of the Court House.
