2/21/2013 8:55:00 AM Jimmy Buffet Night Friday Features The OEM Tropical Band
TAYLORVILLE - Calling all Parrotheads.
The Committee to Improve Lake Shore Golf Course is jamming out to Jimmy Buffett, and other sounds of the sixties and seventies this Friday at One East Market in Taylorville.
“Sounds of Radio Margaritaville” will feature two sets of music by the OEM Tropical Band, followed by a set from Kicked to the Curb with Southside Jonny.
Committee Member Mike DeMichael explains that the fundraiser will help with improvements for Lake Shore Golf Course.
The OEM Tropical Band will crank out at least 15 songs from Jimmy Buffett, says Bud Altman, event organizer. However, they’ll also be incorporating some other popular artists.
“If you’ve ever listened to Radio Margaritaville, you’ve heard quite a variety of music from the Sixties and Seventies. We’re working on a few tunes from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, the Eagles, and the Beach Boys.”
The final set will feature Electric Blues music from Kicked to the Curb and Southside Jonny.
There will be a drawing and silent auction held at the event, as well as the donation at the door. Drink and food specials will start at 5:30 PM, with music kicking off at 7:00 PM. Doors open at 5:00.
Food specials will include a Cheeeburger in Paradise, Coconut Shrimp and other “island food.” Tropical drinks will be available for just $3.00
“We have a lot of people donating time and equipment for this” said Altman. “It will go towards some very specific improvements at the Golf Course that are needed.”
DeMichael would like to “encourage as many people as possible to come to the event. It’s always a good time, and people always have fun.”
