Betty Smith, 86, of Taylorville, passed away at 5:16 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.
She was born March 22, 1926 in Versailles, IL, the daughter of Manley and Ethel M. Green VanHyning. She married Dudley D. Harvell on October 25, 1941 in Palmyra, IL and divorced on December 29, 1969. She later married Donald G. Smith on June 29, 1976 in Las Vegas, NV. Betty was a housewife.
Surviving are her husband, Donald “Gib” Smith; sons, Tom (Karen) Harvell of Taylorville and Steven “Zeke” Harvell of Deadwood, OR; daughters, Cherilyn (Dave) Mundhenke of Morrisonville, Christine Manzi Painter of Henderson, NV, Kathleen (Michael) Hemmer of Summit, OR, Melissa (Mark) Randolph of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Jerry (Kristy) Harvell of Taylorville, Shawn Harris of Taylorville, Lori Herman of Springfield, Shelly Manzi of Henderson, NV, Emily Painter of Henderson, NV, Jamie Painter and companion Elvis Witt of Taylorville, Kyla Painter of Henderson, NV; Alan Randolph of Garland, TX, Matt Randolph of Garland, TX; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded by her parents, seven brothers and sisters, daughter, Pamela VanHyning and great-grandson, Ethan Tyler Witt.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, rural Taylorville. Rev. Larry Best will officiate the service.
