Stanley S. Chambers, 89, of Atwood, IL passed away on Sunday (Sept. 2, 2012).
A service to celebrate Stanley’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (Sept. 7, 2012) at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Stanley was born on May 29, 1923 in Pierson Station, IL, the son of Jesse Orville and Jean (Helmbold) Chambers. He was united in marriage to Mary Blankenship on September 5, 1944 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on October 2, 1999. Stan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He enjoyed farming and listening to gospel music. In high school Stanley played the baritone horn in the high school band and was a member of the Decatur Municipal Band when he was 20 years old. Stan worked at the steam engine factory in Decatur, IL in the early 1940’s, he was a farmer for many years in the Atwood area, he worked at USI in Tuscola for 35 years and for the past 14 years Stanley has been District Manager of Jafra Cosmetics and also a security guard at the Arthur, IL Masterbrand Cabinet Factory. Stanley was a member of the Lake City Church in Lake City, IL where he was a deacon of the church.
Stanley is survived by his daughter: Cindy Randolph and her companion Ed Misiorek of Taylorville, IL; granddaughters: Kim (Kyle) Jones of Villa Grove, IL, Heather Randolph of Ozona, FL; grandson: Todd (Amy) Randolph of Mahomet, IL; brother: Robert Chambers of Boston, MA; great grandchildren: Katie, Kirstyn, Finn, Taylor, Quinn, Josie and several nieces and nephews.
