Wanda E. Best, 89, of Taylorville, passed away at 10:04 p.m. Tuesday, Septemeber 4, 2012 at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Taylorville.
She was born July 31, 1923 in Edinburg, the daughter of Dewey and Hattie (Flemming) Perrine. She was married to Raymond H. Best on March 12, 1942 in Monroe, MO. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1970. She was a retired waitress. Wanda was the oldest member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the VFW, Ladies Auxiliary and the Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Wanda Jane Best of Taylorville; grandchildren, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Matt) Kluthe of Collinsville, IL and Brian Best of St. Joseph, MO; great-grandchildren, Andy Kluthe, Tim Kluthe and Sam Kluthe of Collinsville, IL and Ryan Best of St. Joseph, MO; sister, Eunice (Dean) Gensler of Tuscola, IL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded by her parents, husband, son, Raymond Keith Best, two brothers, Norman Perrine and Max Perrine, and two sisters, Ruth Brown and Freida Richardson.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 7, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with burial in Anderson Cemetery, Palmer. Pastor Steve Switzer will officiate the service. Funeral services for Wanda E. Best, 89, of Taylorville, were held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at the Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Burial followed at Anderson Cemetery in Palmer with Pastor Steve Switzer officiating.
Casket bearers were matt Kluthe, Andy Kluthe, Tim Kluthe, Sam Kluthe, Brian Best and Jerry Snyder.
