Rev. Francis L. Hudson, 89, of Taylorville, IL, died on  Saturday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.

Francis was born on Dec. 27, 1922, to George M. and Clara F. (Demoulin) Hudson. 

He married Merza Pauline Dothager on Aug. 29, 1945, in Mulberry Grove, IL. She preceded him in death on May 7, 1999. Mr. Hudson was a retired Southern Baptist Minister. He was a minister for 55 years. Francis was a member of the Taylorville Southern Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. 

He is survived by his son, Dennis (Vicky) Hudson of Kincaid; daughter, Karen (William) Voyles of Assumption; grandchildren, Eric Lee Hudson of Taylorville; Kelli Dawn (James) Davis of Rosalia, KS; Mary Jean Andresen; Johnny Trotter; and James Trotter; great-grandchildren, Dakota Hudson, Jordan Trotter and Shane Davis; sisters: Norma McKean of Alton; Delores McFarland of Alton; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his daughter, Patty.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Funeral Home in Taylorville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Burial will be held at Noffsinger Cemetery in Mulberry Grove with Military Honors. Pastor Philip Neumann and Pastor Jim Augenstein will officiate. 

Arrangements are by Sutton Memorial Home Taylorville.




Funeral services for Rev. Francis L. Hudson, 89, of Taylorville, were held Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with burial at Noffsinger Cemetery, Mulberry Grove, IL. Pastor Philip Neumann and Pastor Jum Augenstein officiated the service. Military graveside rites were performed by the Mulberry Grove American Legion Post #1180.  

Casket bearers were Rob Thomason, Joe Voyles, Austin Peters, Steve Miller, Jeff Wilson and Brian Burnett. Eric Lee Hudson was an honorary bearer.
