Phyllis Wessels, 90, of Taylorville, passed away at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Taylorville Care Center, Taylorville.
She was born June 2, 1922 in Taylorville, the daughter of Harlin and Clollie Sims Denning. She married John Jack Wessels on June 3, 1942 in Missouri. She was a retired machine operator at a cleaning company and a member of the Moose Lodge of Taylorville. She loved to watch birds, travel with the family and watch her grandkids.
Surviving are her son, Ron Wessels of Taylorville; daughter, Virginia Craig and companion George Troutt of Taylorville; grandchildren, John (Marlene) Craig of Moweaqua, Ed (Cheryl) Craig of Hurst, TX and Lori (Mike) Walter of Owaneco; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Carroll Leslie of Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Wessels, two brothers, Clarence and Elwood Denning, four sisters, Luella, Marcella, Shirley and Waunona and one great-grandson, William.
Visitation is Tuesday October 9, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville. Funeral services will be Wednesday October 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. John Craig will officiate the service.
