Viola F. Duncan, 97 of Tower Hill, formerly of Pana, passed away on December 9, 2012 at Heritage Health, Pana, IL.
She was born on December 27, 1914 to Byron Leon “Jack” and Iva S. McCain Adkins. She married Charles Henry Duncan on February 24, 1946 in Hillsboro, IL, and he preceded her in death on September 24, 1975. Mrs. Duncan was a homemaker, but had worked at the Garments Factories in Pana and Nokomis, and also did housekeeping for others. She was a member of Beacon of Hope Free Methodist Church, Pana.
She is survived by her children: C. Leon Duncan of Champaign, IL; and Lavinia Jenkins and husband Charles of Tower Hill, IL; three grandchildren: Wesley Duncan and wife Christine of Altamont; Jennifer Northup and husband Bob of Carmi; and Ross Jenkins and wife Angela of Moore, OK; step granddaughter: Lana Jo Sumner of Springfield; four great-grandchildren: Myra, Logan, Allison, and Rayna. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Edith Moomey of Herrick; Ruby Moore of Auburn; George Adkins of Sandwich; Glen Adkins and wife Yvonne of Aurora; Roy Adkins and wife Genevieve of Ohlman; James Adkins of Pana; Kenneth Adkins of Sandwich; Betty Smith and husband James of Oconee; and John T. Adkins and wife Pauline of Monroe, WI; sisters-in-law: Hazel Adkins of Canby, MN; and Ethel “Toots” Adkins of Shelbyville.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Charles Adkins, and Howard Adkins; and sisters: Lillian Markham, and Rosa Scoughton.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 am with Pastor Kurt Feneley officiating. A Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, IL
