Mildred Rose Wickline, 91, of Lincoln, IL died at 12:15 p.m. January 11, 2013 at St. Clara’s Manor, Lincoln, IL.
Mildred was born on January 10, 1922 in Putnam Co, IN near Greencastle, the daughter of Thomas C. and Martha Jane Elder Young. She married Lester L. Wickline Dec. 24, 1939. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1998. Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln having served as Deaconess; she was the first female Elder of the church. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star of Lincoln Chapter 351; charter member and past president of the Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society; former chairman of Logan County Chapter of American Red Cross and chairman of Service to Military Families Committee; she was a member of Abraham Lincoln Chapter Daughters of American Revolution; Co-executive secretary of the Illinois State Genealogical Society; and first Welcome Wagon Hostess in Lincoln and Logan County.
Mildred is survived by three children, Martha Janet (Larry M.) Bruns of Taylorville, Jane (SL) Thompson of Lincoln and Galen (Brenda) Wickline of Lincoln; one sister, Ruth Garrett of Mattoon; two sisters-in-law: Marjorie Davis of Mattoon and Verle Young of Kaysville, UT; grandchildren, Darla Cramer (deceased), James Wickline, Mark Thompson, Michael Thompson and Lisa Slater; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; step grandchildren, Lori Crosier, David Bruns and Todd Bruns; four step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers and sisters.
Services for Mildred will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church with Gary Davis officiating and Fr. Mark Evans of Trinity Episcopal Church assisting. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Smyser Church Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday January 17 in Gays, IL. All services were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
