C.P. Smith, 85, of Morrisonville passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 10:25 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center.
He was born on December 11, 1927 at Assumption Township, the son of Carol P. and Mona (Morton) Smith. He married Maxine Rathgeber on June 17, 1951 at United Methodist Church in Morrisonville. C.P. was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He served in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War, retiring after 20 years of service. He returned to Morrisonville and owned and operated Smitty’s Television Repair from 1968-1996 before his retirement. He served two terms on the Morrisonville School Board and worked the score keepers table at Morrisonville High School sporting events for many years.
Survivors include: Wife, Maxine Smith of Morrisonville, IL; son, Dan Smith of Morrisonville, IL; two grandchildren, Trisha Smith (companion, John Evans) of Morrisonville, IL and Jeremy (wife, Dawn) Smith of San Diego, CA; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Rian Kerney and Mark, Naethan and Brienne Smith; four brothers, Larry (wife, Jean) Smith of Conroe, TX, Bill (wife, Joan) Smith of Wentzville, MO, Nyle (wife, Phyllis) Smith of Fresno, CA and Don Smith of San Marcos, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Daryl A. Smith and Dennis L. Smith, two brothers, John Smith and Edwin Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville, with Rev. Dayle Badman officiating. Burial will follow at Morrisonville Cemetery with military honors conducted by Leslie Reddick American Legion Post 721. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 12:30 until service time at the Perfetti Funeral Home. Perfetti Funeral Home in Morrisonville is in charge of arrangements.
