Earl F. Bauer, 90, of Nokomis, passed away on January 22, 2013 at 2:05 a.m. in his residence in Nokomis.

Earl was born in Lincoln, IL, on March 18, 1922, to John C. and Helena Aeilts Bauer.

He married Betty Wehner on June 15, 1946, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, John Earl Bauer (fiance Diane Rebbe) of Bingham, IL; daughters, Janet (Dale) Halford of Williamsville, IL; Jolene (Mike) Williams of Sherman, IL; grandchildren, Angela Brooks, Aaron Halford, John Ryan Bauer, Blake Bauer, Jared Williams, and Jordan Williams; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Luke Halford, Caleb, Garret and Evan Bauer, Mitchel Gaffney and Hunter Brooks.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two half-sisters

Earl was on the Nokomis School Board, was a Sunday School teacher, worked in 4-H Fall Conservation and was the national plowing champion for 65 years, has held various church offices, and was town clerk of Hurricane Township. He was a member of the Wapel Bauer American Legion of Nokomis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 9-11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nokomis. Burial will be held at Nokomis Cemetery with Military Graveside rites. Pastor Bert Eichoff will officiate.

Funeral services for Earl F. Bauer, 90, of Nokomis, were held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Nokomis, with burial at Nokomis Cemetery, Nokomis, IL. Pastor Bert Eickhoff officiated the service. Military Funeral Honors were performed by American Legion Post #94 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

Casket bearers were Aaron Halford, John Ryan Bauer, Blake Bauer, Jared Williams, Jordan  Williams, Mitchell Gaffney and Hunter Brooks, with honorary bearer, Luke Halford.
