Orlan F. Hagemeier, 90, of Nokomis, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Orlan was born on March 20, 1922, in Nokomis Township, the son of Harry F. and Freda (Miller) Hagemeier. He married Wilma Schweizer on February 17, 1943 in Nokomis. Orlan served in WWII as a machinist in the Army-Air Force. After returning from the war, he worked as a mechanic in Taylorville for TH Johnson and Son. Orlan then returned to the Nokomis area where he farmed for over 60 years. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he served in various roles.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; daughters, Joyce (Larry) Fesser of Farmersville and Nancy (Jack) DeWerff of Nokomis; son, Jim (Nancy) Hagemeier of Taylorville; grandchildren, Susan (Larry) Krumholz of Eureka, Mark (Tara) Fesser of O’Fallon, MO, Rachelle (Adam) McDowell of Nokomis, Julie (Joe) Bruso of Rochester, Mike (Danielle) DeWerff of Nokomis, Craig Hagemeier of Chicago and Leah (Brandon) Davis of Taylorville; great-grandchildren, Brad and Katie Krumholz, Derek, Taylor and Jacqueline Fesser, Alexis and Austin McDowell, Aaron and Olivia Bruso, Gabrielle, Kennedy and Maddison DeWerff and Elise and Lila Davis; one sister, Orene (David) Easterday of Nokomis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Shelia Fesser.
The visitation will be Friday, February 1 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Nokomis. The funeral will be on Saturday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Christen Prumm officiating. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
