Helen Marie Sarver, 86, of Pana, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 in Pana Community Hospital.
She was born January 5, 1927 in Pana, the daughter of Wayne and Rosie Neece Hicks. Helen lived in Pana until 1964 when she moved to Westland, Michigan. She married Frank L. Sarver on August 21, 1964 in Pana; he preceded her on December 12, 1973. They moved to Pana in 1970. Helen was a homemaker for most of her life, but had worked at the Glove Factory in Pana, and One Hour Martinizing and K-Mart while in Michigan. In her later years, she did home health care. She enjoyed Seek-A-Word, bird watching on her back porch, and her cats, Molly, Ziggy and Toby. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pana where she loved Sunday School.
She is survived by her children, Edward Sarver of Pana, IL, Joyce Scheetz of Springfield, MO, Sandra Likavec and husband John of Orlando, FL, June “Judi” Mundell of Pana and fiancé Ben Carter; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Lou Moore of Pana, IL and Shirley Evans of Cowden, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Lisa Marie Griffiths, one brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be Friday, March 22, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2013 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Greg White officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana.
