Harvey Wayne Morrell, 87, of Pana, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in Prairie Rose Health Care Center, Pana.
He was born September 7, 1925 in rural Pana, IL, to his parents, Harvey William and Mabel (Barber) Morrell. He graduated from Rosamond High School and then farmed with his dad. He retired from Kemmerer Village. He married Dorothy L. Estabrook on July 27, 1947 at Buckeye United Methodist Church, in rural Owaneco, IL. She died on June 13, 2012. He was an active member of Buckeye United Methodist Church, having served in many leadership positions. He was involved in AFS Exchange, and had an exchange student in his home. He was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, currently a member of Arcana Chapter #493 Order of the Eastern Star at Pana, IL and past member & Worthy Patron of the Rosalind Chapter Order of Eastern Star at Owaneco, IL., 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, currently a member of Pana Masonic Lodge AF&AM #226 and past member & Master of Locust Lodge of Owaneco, 50 year member and past president of the Pana Lions club, a member and past president and secretary of the Christian County Shrine Club, a member of Ansar Shrine Three Wheelers Unit and Clown Unit, and was Santa’s helper for many years in Pana.
Harvey is survived by his beloved sister, Eleanor Scott of Pana and his children: Michael (Peggy) Morrell of Mendota, Steve (Gail) Morrell of Pana, Tom (Mary) Morrell of Pana and Debbie (Randy) Reese of Effingham. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and special friends Larry and Jolaine Smith and family.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Dorothy Fikan, grandsons Justin Melzer and Dylan Reese, and a great grandson Robert Michael Stroyan.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Rev. Betty Coffey & Rev. Marge Overlot officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Masonic rites at 7:00 p.m.
