Donna J. Cook, 81, of Pana, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in her home after a 3 year long battle with T-Cell Lymphoma.
She was born March 10, 1932 in Pana. Donna graduated from Pana High School, Class of 1950. While in high school, she was a drum majorette in the high school band. Donna married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Cook on April 16, 1950 in Osceola, AR. She worked at P.H. Mallory, Prairie Farms, and in her retirement, she worked as a gate attendant for the Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville for 23 years with her husband. Donna’s biggest enjoyment was spending time spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to water ski and was in ski shows on Pana Lake. She loved camping, and making her husband move to a better campsite every other day. She also taught baton to girls, and loved to play the accordion. Donna and Bob also loved to spend the winters in Texas. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Findlay.
She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Robert “Bob” Cook; sons: Kent Cook & companion Sherry Berry and Rick Cook & wife Reba; daughter, Kathy Brown & husband George; 7 grandchildren: Kyle Cook & wife Crystal, Matt Cook & wife Heidi, Adam Cook, Ryan Cook & wife Colleen, Rachelle Hendrickson & husband Travis, Chad Brown, Nick Brown & wife Tarah; 10 great grandchildren; brothers: Dave Simpson & wife Glinda and Jim Simpson; and sister, Deema Jones. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur McIntire; mother, Lola Simpson; and step-father, Carl Simpson.
Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home in Pana. Funeral services are Saturday, July 6, 2013 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Tom Compton officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana.
