Paul Dean Howard, 76, of Centralia, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Nature Trail Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
He was born the son of William and Lena (Hess) Howard on December 31, 1936 in Cypress, IL. He married Linda R. Stephens and she survives in Taylorville. He later married Patsy Jane Howard and Sandra Howard and they both have passed. Mr. Howard was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked for 22 plus years for World Color Press. He was a member of the Centralia Elks, Moose, Legion, and Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, custom trucks, and was an antique gun collector. He was known as "Trader Paul" for his dealing and swapping of goods.
Survivors include his two sons, William "Jamie" Dean Howard and spouse Matthew of Centralia and Sherman Howard and wife Rita of Decatur; daughter, Deanna Howard of Centralia; adopted daughter, Emily Howard; step-daughter, Renee Weidenkiller and husband Ty of Decatur; granddaughter, Chamareanna Johnson; and three brothers, James Smith, Bobby Smith and Glenn Eddleman. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Eddie Smith, Gail Smith and Shirley Smith; and five sisters Rosemary, Ruby, Nora, Virginia and Louise.
Visitation will be held 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Day Macz Funeral Home in Sandoval. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with graveside services following at 3:00 p.m. at Busby Cemetery in Goreville, IL.
