James C. Abrell, 86, died September 21, 2013, at Wichita, Kansas.
James was born June 13, 1927, to Clayton and Elizabeth Abrell. He was a former resident of Taylorville, Illinois, having gone to Taylorville grade schools and Taylorville High School, graduating with the class of 1946. He served in the US Army in 1946 and 1947. He graduated from Millikin University with a bachelor's degree and Southern Illinois University with a master’s degree in Drama. He was a high school teacher and director of high school plays. He went to Hollywood where he was an actor in numerous movies and was otherwise involved in the movie industry. He later became a professor at Friend's University in Wichita, Kansas, and taught acting and theater. He wrote books that were published and plays that were performed by high school students and used commercially. His life's work appeared in Newsweek and other publications. He also enjoyed fishing, singing and nature of all kinds.
He is survived by his wife, Sue.
