Ronald “Tuey” Puckett, 69, of Pana, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Pana on June 16, 1944 to Ralph Fredrick and Blanche E. Gildersleeve Puckett. He married Margaret L. Norris on June 10, 1967 in St. Mary’s Church, Assumption, and she survives him. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He lived in Pana all of his life and retired from Bridgestone-Firestone. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Assumption; United Steel Workers of America; a lifetime member of Pana VFW Post #4431; a member of Pana Elks Lodge; Pana Eagles; and Pana Moose Club. He loved watching his grandkids. He was an avid Cub fan and followed the Illini and the Bears. He loved all sports. He had enjoyed playing golf and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Puckett of Pana; children: Lisa Schmitz and husband William of Pana, Keith Puckett of Pana, and Kevin Puckett and wife Monica of Pana; daughter-in-law, Teresa Puckett of Pana; nine grandchildren: Cody, Quinten and Chelsea Schmitz; Megan VanHooser, Dylan Puckett and wife Sloan; Logan Puckett, Tyler Stalets, Aubrey and Austin Puckett; one great grandchild: Brodey VanHooser. He is also survived by his brothers: Paul Puckett and wife Mary Ann of Pana, Carl Puckett and wife Carolyn of Assumption, Kenny Puckett and wife Jeanne of Decatur; and sister, Betty Temmen of Pana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Ralph Puckett; three sisters: Dorothy LeDuc, Barbara Webb, and Helen Eddy; and a brother, Charles Ray Puckett in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Assumption, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Wolford officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption, with a graveside military rites by Pana Veterans’ Honor Guard. A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Elks rites at 8:00 p.m.
