Phyllis J. “Joan” Denning, 81, of Decatur, formerly of Taylorville, IL, passed away with her family by her side at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 in her residence.
Joan was born July 23, 1932 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Linburn and Edith (Deweese) Kindred. She married John M. Denning on September 15, 1961. She had formerly served as a deputy clerk for the Macon County Circuit Clerks Office. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, John of Decatur; son, Jeff Denning and his wife Cindy of Shelbyville; daughter, Patty Denning of Decatur; grandchildren: J. Andrew Denning and his wife Amber of Metamora, IL, J. David Denning of Metamora, IL, J. Stephen Denning of Phoenix, AZ and Jessie Denning of Shelbyville, IL; brothers: Paul Kindred of Taylorville, IL, Robert Kindred and his wife Reeda of Edinburg, IL and Tom Kindred and his wife Sharon of Lemont, IL; and sister, Virginia Ream of Taylorville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at Riverside Baptist Church, 1250 W. Mound Road, Decatur, IL with Pastor John Norris officiating. She will be laid to rest in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Riverside Baptist Church.
