Frank Lee Tomazic, 72, of Sparta, formerly of Taylorville, IL died at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Sparta Hospital after a long battle with cancer, with his niece, Tammy Roberts and nephew, Richard Brewer at his side.
Frank was born on January 14, 1942 to Steve and Zelma (Tippet) Tomazic. He married Marylou Prasun on October, 5, 1962 in Kincaid and moved to Taylorville where they lived for many years, and then moved to Sparta, she preceded him in death. He then met Kathryn Vaughn, although they never legally married he considered her to be his wife, she also preceded him in death. He was a coal miner for 32 years starting at Peabody #10 and after it shut down continued at the Marissa mine until he retired. Frank enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and spending time with his friend at Hardees and McDonalds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Steve Jr.; one sister, Alice Howard; his two wives; and his nephew, Billy Hughes. He is survived by his brother, John Tomazic (Kathryn); sister, Geraldine Hughes (Bill); nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins and friends and a special friend, Darlene Finley.
At Franks request he was cremated and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 29th at The Presbyterian Church in Tilden with Rev. Dennis Hamilton officiating from 5 to 7 p.m. and there will be a graveside service at the Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Taylorville on Wednesday, April 30th at 1:00 p.m.
