Marvin "Buddy" Lockard, 93, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Taylorville, IL, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Emeritus Assisted Living in Lakeland.
He was born in Taylorville, IL on June 6, 1921; the son of Jesse and Ella Lockard. He married Geraldine “Gerry” Drummond in Taylorville and she preceded him in death in 2008. Mr. Lockard moved to Lakeland upon his retirement from Montery Coal Company, where he was a mine examiner. He also worked for several years at Wareham’s Dairy in Taylorville. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a member of the Medulla Baptist Church in Lakeland for many years. Mr. Lockard was preceded in death by his wife Gerry in 2008; daughter Sonja Crabill in 1998; one brother and sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Gayla Williams of Lakeland, FL; son, Terry Lockard of Taylorville, IL; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Military rites were accorded and burial was at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, Auburndale, FL.
