Deborah Sue Johnson, 61, of Taylorville, went home to be with the Lord at 6:37 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 26, 1955, in Springfield, the daughter of Lawrence W. and Bernice L. (Haferkamp) Catron. She married Robert L. Johnson on December 17, 1977, at the Christian Bible Church in Springfield. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and a member of the Buckeye United Methodist Church. She knitted for over 30 years and enjoyed giving away the projects she created. She loved listening to southern gospel music and enjoyed fishing. She had raised and cared for over 18 pets and is survived by five.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Johnson of Taylorville; father, Larry Catron of Springfield; brothers, Gary (Peg) Catron of Phoenix, Ariz., and Donald (Joyce) Catron of Auburn; sister, Lori (Robert) York of Rochester; one niece and two great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her mother and paternal and maternal grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at McClure Funeral Home with Rev. John Ray officiating. Burial will be in the Buckeye Prairie Cemetery.
