Darrell McWard
August 5, 1939 - January 9, 2017

Darrell McWard, 77 of Decatur formerly of Taylorville passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at 5:10 a.m. at his home in Decatur. He was born on August 5, 1939 in Taylorville, Ill. the son of Lester Price and Mary Ann (Maloney) McWard. He married Patricia Wisemanon July 15, 1961 in Taylorville, Ill. He worked as a Millwright at Wagoner Castings in Decatur. Darrell was a member of American Legion Post #0105 in Decatur.

Surviving is his wife: Patricia of Decatur, Ill.; daughter: Mary Louise (Chuck) Alvey of Taylorville, Ill.; granddaughter: Ashley Alvey of Taylorville, Ill.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Brian McWard and two daughters in infancy: Barbara Jo and Susan Lynn McWard, brothers: James Lester McWard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Steve Switzer officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville with military graveside honors.

Services for Darrell McWard were held Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, Illinois.  Burial is at

Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Ill. Pastor Steve Switzer officiated the service. Military Honors were conducted by the American Legion Post #73, AMVETS Post #29, VFW Post #4495 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral and Honors Detail. Casket bearers were: Tim Wiseman, Tom Wiseman, Jim Wiseman, Dale Wiseman, Frank McWard and Tim McWard. Honorary bearers included: Ray Wiseman, Gene Wiseman, Kenny Wiseman and Richard Wiseman.
