Kathleen A. Clay, 66, of Taylorville, died at 8:50 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Kathleen was born on September 9, 1950 in Springfield, the daughter of Robert and Laverna (Edwards) Flaherty. She married Ronald Lee Clay on June 30, 1969 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2016, after they shared 47 years together. Kathleen worked for the Sangamon Company in Taylorville as a machine operator. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Kathleen is survived by her children: Roger Clay of Centralia, Richard Clay of Springfield, Renee Clay of Taylorville; step-daughter: Rhonda (Kelly) Duncan of Taylorville; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings: Robert (Connie) Flaherty of Taylorville, Patricia Enlow of Taylorville, and Sheila Crowder of Edinburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her step-son, Ronnie Clay, and her half-brother, Dennis King.
Kathleen will be cremated and the family will host a memorial service in her honor at a later time. McClure Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
