Donald L. “Don” Dixon, 71, of Assumption, died Friday, February 10, 2017 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur. He was born May 7, 1945 in Taylorville, son of Harry Eldon and Dorothy Rogers Dixon. Don lived in the Pana and Assumption areas his entire life. He was a member of Pana Moose Lodge #1015 and Pana Eagles #4109. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a meat cutter for Moweaqua Foods and had worked at Jim’s Market in Assumption and at East End Market in Taylorville. Donald Dixon and Sharon Riggs were married in 1963 in the United Methodist Church in Pana. Don is survived by his wife: Sharon Dixon, Assumption, Ill.; son: Duane Dixon, Dawson, Ill.; mother: Dorothy Dixon, Pana, Ill.; daughter-in-law: Cathy Stevenson, Ramsey, Ill.; two grandchildren: Zack and Trevor Dixon; and great-grandson Leo Dixon. He was preceded in death by his father, son Donald Dixon Jr. in 1995, brother Ronnie Dixon and sisters Carolyn Oller and Debra Moore. A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Amanda Richards officiating. Inurnment will be in Mt.
