Bertha L. Lloyd, 84 of Litchfield, Ill. died on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 5:05 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing & Rehab Center, Hillsboro, Ill.
She was born on March 10, 1933 in Witt, Ill. to parents Earl and Gertrude (Bowen) Woodruff. She married Fred “Sam” Lloyd on June 17, 1951 in Hillsboro, Ill. He preceded on January 30, 2009.
Bertha was an activity director at nursing homes for about twenty years, working at both Don Berry Nursing Home and Turtle Creek Nursing Home. During her lifetime she lived in Litchfield, Ill. and Spokane, Wash.
She attended the Free Methodist Church in Litchfield, Ill., and was a member of a bible study group. Bertha was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader; enjoyed gardening; loved to fish and travel; loved spending time with her family; and loved her dogs and all animals.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura Huckstep of Taylorville; three grandchildren: Sarah House (companion Michael Gullidge) of Taylorville, Ill.; Maegen (husband Kevin) Trone of Hillsboro, Ill.; and Beth (husband Drew) Edwards of Hillsboro, Ill.; five great-grandchildren: Kade Edwards; Cooper House; Kason Trone; Meleah Edwards; and Haley Edwards; and one sister, Beulah Steinbuck of Evanston, Ill.
She was predeceased by a son, Steven T. Loyd on October 19, 2014, one son-in-law: Keith Huckstep, one grandchild: Kenneth Vogel and two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2017 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home, Hillsboro, Ill. A memorial service will be held following the visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and officiated by Mark Jagosh. Burial will be held in Waveland Cemetery, Hillsboro. Cremation rites were accorded.
