Raymond Broccardo, 95, of Kincaid passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Meadow Manor Skilled Nursing Center, Taylorville.
He was born on December 1, 1921 in Kincaid, Ill., the son of Joseph and Julia Mayer Broccardo.
On February 14, 1944 he married Alberta Fleming at the Kincaid United Methodist Church.
Raymond spent his entire life in Kincaid. In 1944 he started the Select Bottling Works to manufacture and distribute several brands of soda, including his own Select brand, throughout Central Illinois. He successfully operated this business until March 1956 when it was sold to Pepsi Cola Co. of Taylorville. In 1953 he started the Broccardo Insurance Agency in Kincaid, which he managed for the following 50 years. He also served on the board of Directors of the Palmer State Bank for several years. Raymond was well known in the Midland and generously supported the local school, youth sports and community activities.
Surviving are his children, one daughter, one son, Michael of Ft. Collins, Colo., his younger brother Louis Broccardo of Kincaid, his daughter-in-law Ann Broccardo of Kincaid, seven grandchildren, four great-grand children and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alberta in 2012, his son Carl in 2005, his parents, and four brothers.
Funeral services will held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville. Visitation will be held one hour before the services at the funeral home.
