Earl Wade Himstedt, 67, of Litchfield, IL, passed away on Thurs., June 1, 2017 at his home with his beloved family by his side. Born on Aug. 1, 1949 at Taylorville, he was the son of Luther Russell and Marilyn (Wade) Himstedt. He attended school in Gillespie and graduated from Gillespie High School in 1967. He was in the Army Reserves. Earl worked as a farm hand for several years, worked at Timmerman Implement and drove a truck for many years. He was currently employed at Farmers Grain Elevator in Litchfield as a truck driver. He married Peggy (White) Bergman on October 20, 2001 in Litchfield, IL. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Himstedt of Litchfield; son, Jason (Miranda) Bergman of Litchfield; sister, Geneva (Don) Anderson of Mt. Auburn; brother, Lynn (Alta) Himstedt of Taylorville; grandchildren: Kayden Bergman and Lana Bergman of Litchfield; nieces: Kristy (Joe) Carey; Tara (Cody) Younker, nephews: Jeremy (Crystal) Anderson and Travis (DJ) Himstedt; several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Earl was very family oriented and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He loved a good joke and playing tricks on others. He always tried to stay one step ahead of everyone with his antics. Earl was very talented working with wood and he built their entire home on his own. Earl will be missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his fellow patrons of Route 66 Cafe and Farmers Grain Elevator.
Funeral services will be held Mon., June 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Ben Bishop, of Litchfield, will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.
