William “Bill” R. Laurik, 76, of Taylorville, died at 10:35 p.m., on Monday, June 19, 2017, at his residence. He was born July 19, 1940, in Springfield to John Anthony and Blanche Dioutt Laurik, Sr. He married Brenda J. Robertson on June 5, 1973.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years; three daughters, Helena Laurik (fiancé Brian Merreighn) of Lincoln, Katrina (Norman Jr.) Livingston of Springfield and Kristina (Nathan) Joslin of Taylorville; one son, William Matthew Laurik (fiancé Barbara Lowe) of Athens; thirteen grandchildren, Kayle, Ian, Courtney, Shyanne, Jarred, Dalton, Rachael, Haleigh, Norman III, Alexandria, James, John Paul and Josie; three great grandchildren, Kaysen, Brantley and Elizabeth Ann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Anthony Laurik, Jr.; grandson, Jacob Daniel Stephens and two nephews, John Anthony Laurik, III and Russell Allen Laurik.
Bill was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was employed by CWLP as a heavy equipment operator, retiring after 35-and-a-half years of service. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post and the Moose Lodge #1757. He loved the outdoors, fishing and a good bottle of scotch. Bill never met a stranger and loved making everyone laugh. He spent his retirement enjoying his children and grandchildren and loved those Cubbies.
Visitation will take place from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield.
The funeral service will take place at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry W. Doss officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
