James T. Damery, 93, of Decatur, IL passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Fair Havens Christian Home.
A service to honor and celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation two hours prior to the service. Jim will be laid to rest in Macon County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Jim was born on January 24, 1924 in Blue Mound, Ill., the son of John and Eunice (Thurston) Damery. He married Mary Kissel on October 18, 1941. She preceded him in death on September 30, 1999. Jim was a farmer and a member of the Blue Mound Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, and a former member of Bethel United Methodist Church. He was a salesman for Dekalb Seed Corn for 30 years. Jim served on the Blue Mound School Board for 9 years and was active with Soil Conservation Service.
Jim is survived by his children: James T. Damery, Jr. of Roseland, Va., Charles A. (Barbara) Damery of Rochester, Ill., Debra J. (Dennis) Kraft of Decatur, Ill., Ruth (Jim) Walls of Pleasant Prairie, Wisc. and Wanda Damery of Olathe, Kan.; grandchildren: John C. (Natalie) Damery of Bellville, Ill., R. Douglas (Krista) Damery of Hudson, Mich., Jennifer (Trent) Norris of Palmer, Ill., Michael (Nichole) Kraft of Blue Mound, Ill., Jeffrey (Becca) Kraft of Decatur, lll., Angela Damery of Somerville, Md., D. Nathaniel (Christine) Damery of Milton, Fla., Christopher J. Walls of Chicago, Ill. and Jonathan D. Walls of Kenosha, Wisc.; 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son: David Damery and his daughter-in-law: Joyce Damery.
