Jerry Bob Puckett, 80, of Stonington passed away at 4:50 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on December 4, 1936 in Pecos, Texas, the son of Lee and Yvonne (Williams) Puckett. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955, serving in the Korean and Vietnam War and proudly served his country for many years. He retired as a Naval Air Craft Mechanic, Petty Officer 1st Class, and then went on to work at the VA Medical Center in Marlin, Texas as an Environmental Engineer. Jerry later worked for several years at Walmart in Taylorville. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and life member of the VFW in Taylorville. Jerry was known as a pool shark, avid bowler, and could cut a rug with the best of them. Jerry was a loving, caring, and devoted dad to his kids.
He is survived by his four children: Beth (Scott) Kuntzman of Stonington, Michael (Tonya) Chatterton of Rogersville, Missouri, Luke Puckett Sr. of Stonington, and Teri (Randy) Tangman of Taylorville; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and niece: Ramona Puckett of Kosse, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; dad: MB Reneau; the love of his life: Geraldine Puckett; son: Jeffery Allen Puckett; grandson: James Chatterton; nephew: Jerry MB Puckett; and siblings: CD Reneau, Sam Reneau, Maudine Reneau, and Floyd Lee Puckett.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville with Tim and Becky Lembke officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Funeral home. Inurnment with Veteran’s Honors will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton.
