William H. “Bill” Olinger, 80, of Assumption, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in his home. He was born October 10, 1936 in Moultrie County, IL, son of the late Harley and Beulah (Gregg) Olinger.
Bill lived most of his life in Assumption. He worked as a farmer and retired from Sloan Implement. He loved fishing, feeding the squirrels, and took pride in his landscaping & mowing his yard.
Bill Olinger and Cora Della Grimes were married on May 14, 1955 in Cowden. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2005.
He is survived by his daughter, Debora Hammond, Pana, Ill.; sons:William E. Olinger (fiancée Toni Lindsey), Shelbyville, Ill. and Kelly R. Olinger, Mattoon, Ill.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister: Sharon (Tony) Wasson, Mustang, Okla.; and companion, Loretta Sinnard, Assumption, Ill. He was also preceded by two grandsons, Casey and Shawn; great-grandson, Clayven and brother, Marvin Greg Olinger.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2017 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor David Beerbower officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood-Fairview Cemetery, rural Nokomis. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Casual dress is requested. www.mdfh.com
