Dennis E. Tarr, 65, of Mechanicsburg, died at 4:16 pm, Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born August 29, 1952 in Springfield, to Carl and Marlene Pretet Tarr. He married Vicky Greene on April 28, 1973 and she survives.
Also surviving are five children: Jason (Tracy) Tarr of Mechanicsburg, Gabriel (Alison) Tarr of Pontiac, Christy (Howard) Manuel of Naperville, Benjamin (Ellie) Tarr of Riverton and Kaitlyn Tarr of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren: Shelby, Taylor, Jace, Jackson, Logan, Blaine, Aubrey, Sophia and Hudson; three sisters: Carol (Dan) Duckworth of Eagle River, Wisc., Cinda (David) Earles of Mechanicsburg and Julie (Jeff) Snyder of Springfield; one brother, Joe (Melanne) Tarr of Dawson; one brother-in-law, Bob Etherton of Dawson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Donna Etherton and one brother Tommy Tarr.
Dennis loved his farm and livestock. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg. He served as chairman for the annual pork chop supper for over 30 years. He loved being with family and friends and enjoyed parties in the barn. He will be remembered as a father figure to many and source of laughter to all.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield. A second visitation will be held from 10 –11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edinburg with Reverend Gaylord Spilker officiating.
Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
