Robert L. Dautel, Sr., of Morrisonville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. He was 88.
Bob was born August 27, 1929, to Jules and Patricia Dautel. He married Betty June King October 29, 1951 and she survives. Also surviving are five children: Kathy Dautel Wexstten of Taylorville; Beverly (Ken) Lipe of Raymond; Bob (Barb) Dautel and Jim (Dorothy) Dautel, both of Morrisonville; and Peggy (Jim Hemingway) Morgan of Edinburg; seven grandchildren: Michael Denning of Taylorville; Zach Jones of Villa Rica, Ga.; Sara Lipe of Charlottesville, Va.; Jessica Dautel of DuQuoin; Jenna Apps of Richlands, N.C.; Jake Dautel of Palmer; and Seth Morgan of Edinburg; two step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. A brother, James Dautel of Franklin, N.C., and sisters Delores Deickmann of Manchester, N.J., and Betty Gansbauer of Springfield, Ill. also survive him. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
Bob worked in the coal mining industry for many years before retiring as the Supervisor of the State of Illinois Mine Rescue Station in Springfield, Ill. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was an avid gardener, fisherman and home winemaker.
There will be no visitation. Friends may pay their respects at graveside services, which will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Morrisonville Cemetery. The family of Mr. Dautel is being served by Perfetti Assalley Funeral Home, Morrisonville, Ill.
A graveside ceremony was held, Monday, October 9, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Morrisonville Cemetery. Greg Stewart, Dave Rosenthal, Curt Minnis, Tommy Durbin, Bob Fuchs and Jim Hemingway served as pall bearers.
