Robert D. Hancock, Sr.
September 15, 1941 - December 11, 2017

Robert D. Hancock, Sr., 76, of Taylorville, Ill., passed away at 1:59 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at his residence.

Bob was born September 15, 1941 in Morrisonville, Ill., the son of Loy Pope and Ida Maude (Plopper) Hancock.

Bob attended Morrisonville High School, and went on to manage the Shell Service Station in Morrisonville, and later own the Mobil Service Station in Morrisonville. He would also retire from Spartech Plastics in Taylorville after twenty-five years of service. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting. He greatly enjoyed history, especially Civil War history, watching westerns, and collecting owls and Elvis memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and companion of many years, Diane L. Ward.

Bob is survived by his children: Valerie (husband, David) Vickers of Morrisonville, Ill., Robert (wife, Shannon) Hancock, Jr. of Tennessee, Melissa Krotz of Florida, and Bonnie Taylor of Sycamore, Ill.; grandchildren: Joshua Mann Hancock of Tennessee, Cory Vickers of Taylorville, Ill., Casey (wife, Kayla) Vickers of Taylorville, Ill., Aubrey Vickers of Morrisonville, Ill., Shane Hart of Florida, Ashlee (husband, George) Wilson of Springfield, Ill., Sean (wife, Sara) Rodden of Taylorville, Ill., Amanda (husband, Juan) Rodden of Naperville, Ill.; great-grandchildren: Aliiyah, Juan, Jr., Reese, Benson, and Eddrill; sisters: Rosie Mayer of Decatur, Ill., and Becky Crawford of Taylorville, Ill.; Diane L. Ward’s children: Diane (husband, Tommy) Blessent, Debbie (husband, Harold) Turner, Jack Terrill, and Gladys Terrill; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive guests from 4:00–6:00 p.m., Friday, December 15, 2017 at Perfetti-Assalley Funeral Home, 304 Carlin St., Morrisonville, Ill. 62546.

Cremation will be accorded following the visitation.
