David Lavern Ackerman
January 4, 1933 - December 14, 2017

David Lavern Ackerman, 84 of Edinburg, Ill. passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 4, 1933 in Cuba, MO the son of Walter and Elva (Cary) Ackerman. He married Gayla May Harter on April 30, 1955 in Taylorville, Ill., they were later divorced. David served in the United States Army during the Korean war. He was a member of Edinburg First United Methodist Church. 

Surviving are his sons: Leroy (Linda) Ackerman of Taylorville, Ill., Bill Ackerman of Collinsville, Okla., and Danny Ackerman of Taylorville, Ill.; daughter: Sharon Casteel (Judy Erley) of Springfield, Ill.; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers; two sisters; and several nieces, nephews, cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Edward Ackerman; and brother: Jim Ackerman. 

It was David’s wishes to donate his body to science, there will be no services and an inurnment will be held at a later date.
